Wooden Kit - Da Vinci - Catapult
Item: WK25614
Product Description
Catapults were first invented in Ancient Greek and Roman times, however our common idea of them is based on drawings we have from the Medieval Ages.
Leonardo redesigned the catapult around 1485 and used the spring like energy stored in bent wood to give power to the swing arm.
All pre-cut pieces and everything needed to make an amazing working model.
Easy-to-make.
Natural untreated wood from sustainable forests.
Suitable for ages 8+.
Finished item is 42cm tall x 42cm wide.
A fun project from one of the great minds of history!

"Works remarkably well.
I moved the release beam eyelet further up the beam and added another eyelet to the front upper base beam so the release string could be fed through and pulled from the back of the catapult.
Slip knots used on the spring beams allow tension to be altered without constant tying and untying of knots.
Used a garden type string rather than the supplied ones just to give a bit more of a 'rustic' look."
