Project Kit

You'll find numerous uses around the house and shop for this heavy duty, practical and attractive mechanical pencil. The 5.6mm (nearly 1/4" dia.) lead will never break. The pencil includes a precision, German-made mechanism and an integrated sharpener in the cap. Includes an 80mm length of lead. Graphite lead refills are available separately.

"Well made but bushings are slightly too big, if you turn down to them exactly it still leaves a slight ridge in the wood from end. Its also difficult to get a sharp point with the sharpener, but using a pencil sharpener did the job fine, I think it would be good if different grades of lead was on offer, plus coloured lead, but worth the money, and makes a great gift made up. "

"This is a great kit apart from the final stage of assembly of gluing the sharpener to the rest of the kit. I have to use five-minute epoxy and not Super Glue as nearly ruined the first one I made when the Super Glue went too far."

"Quite a nice kit with a few qualifications. The kit requires the cutting of a tenon after turning. I found that the skew was the best tool for this job as a small parting tool lifted the timber grain on the wood I used. Gluing the finial end I found best using epoxy, I just can’t see superglue working for that. Made as gifts and were well received. "

"Love these kits ...BUT...beware. At the final stage when you are supposed to super-glue the internals together it is vertually impossible not to also glue the sharper in place. I resolved the issue by using a 2 part glue and applying a tiny amount with a cocktail stick .....the super-glue is far to runny and hence gets on to the bits it isn't ment to. I believe there are versions of this kit that don't require this glue stage."
