Maple
Product Description
The heartwood is creamy white when freshly cut but ages to a light tan. The grain is usually straight but can be wavy or curly, and has a smooth, fine texture. The wood has a high natural lustre, especially on quartered surfaces. The sapwood is not normally distinct from the heartwood.
Maple woodturning blanks are available in round, square and spindle sizes where possible. All sizes listed are in inches unless stated otherwise.

"Had some internal splits which took some sorting out but overall OK."
By Vintage Sparks on 5th October 2021
"This is an easy wood to work with. Undemanding when being turned, sanded and polished, it produces a nice finish. I found it, mostly, knot free with an even, consistent grain.
Essentially, a boring wood that probably works best when used in a contrasting union with some of the more exotic, darker woods.
Addendum:
I take it back, the wood is not boring as it mellows to an attractive colour a few weeks after turning."

"Good blank with no cracks and well seasoned."
By Phil Lawrey on 12th November 2020
"Good quality blank at a good price"
By Dr Tim Walls on 7th July 2020
"Very disappointing piece of timber, extensive split at one end going at least a third of the way along the blank. Bought to make a pepper grinder but insufficient intact timber to do so as the split extends too far down the blank"
By Colin Palmer on 20th May 2020

By Roger Croome on 13th January 2020
